Harold William Knox and Melba Faye Church
To so many, they were referred to as Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, or simply Melba and Harold. No matter what name we referred to them as, our lives have forever been changed for good because of the love and influence of these two amazing individuals.
Harold William Knox was born on March 16, 1910 in South Haven, Kansas to William Knox and Altie Mae Hall. He lived his entire life in South Haven, Kansas and farmed his family homestead 3 miles northwest of South Haven. He met the love his life, Melba Faye Church, and married her on October 17, 1934 in South Haven, Kansas. Melba Faye Church was born on July 16, 1915 to Phillip Merrick Church and Daisy Fay Weedman in Holyrood, Kansas. They had 6 children, Beulah Rogene Hollingsworth Currey, Virginia Opal Bacon, Marjorie Louise Cartmill, James Harold Knox, Mary Hazel Maddox Sneed, and William Merrick Knox. Harold and Melba lived and farmed just outside of South Haven, Kansas. They were grandparents to 21 grandchildren who adored and revered them. The number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren continues to grow. What started out as a sweet love story between two young, rural Kansas kids, has grown into an marvelous heritage of fondness, family, farming and faith.
